As my nerd-dom reached a new height, I went to Video Games Live last night and I must say that it was a pretty awesome show. Quite a few people had full costumes on such as Mario, Link, Master Chief (in full gear!) and a group of people dressed-up as Final Fantasy 7 characters. I just wore a Super Mario t-shirt and was pretty impressed to see all the other people that had Nintendo related shirts on. Even saw someone else with the same Mario shirt that I was wearing!
The show itself was pretty good starting off with a montage of video and music from video games starting with Pong and moving up through the years. Pretty impressive to see a lot of them that I’ve played a little lately via MAME. The music and video segments were all top-notch and the ‘interactive’ parts of the show where they had audience members go on stage to play games and win prizes were fun for the whole crowd. A couple people were lucky enough to win a PS3 or Xbox 360. Unfortunately, I wasn’t one of them.
Great night though. If you are in to video games, you should definitely check out the show.
