School’s out!  The classes are done and the markings are all complete and that means I’m done school for a while!  Woo-hoo!  It has certainly been an enjoyable and challenging experience but it has also been very time consuming.  It will be nice to get some time back, especially right before spring and summer.

So what to do with all this extra time?  I’m thinking of replacing my main computer with something a little more…shiney.  Possibly Core i7 if the price comes out reasonable.  I worked a lot lately so a nice reward is certainly in order.  With a new main computer, I would roll my current computer to a server role.  I’m thinking that it would run Windows and Linux as virtual machines under a VMWare ESXi hypervisor.  Sounds pretty cool in concept but I need to do some testing to make sure it will work first.  Then the current Dell server gets rolled over in to a slightly more powerful MediaPortal PC.  Mmm I do love MediaPortal and some extra CPU cycles available would be nice.  Currently, my MediaPortal is an 8+ year old P3-1000 computer.  Pretty cool that after 8 years, I still have a good use for that system.

For something new, I’d like to learn how to tinker with electronics.  Never really been too good with electronics but maybe time to give it another try and make a world domination robot or room-temperature cold fusion device.  Maybe I’ll start a bit smaller and just make something with blinkly lights first…

Aside from school and techy stuff, the dogs are doing well together and Sam is starting to get pretty big!  He’s already outgrown his first kennel and he’s almost as big as Roman.  He’s a great little puppy and very well behaved.  We really lucked out with this little boy.

Speaking of the dogs, time to go for a walk so stay tuned for more blogging!
